NOTE 2/11/18: Facebook posted a short update in a Developer note recently (no date on the note) regarding the use of Page Tab apps – this designation of a Page Tab app is what ShopTab’s store application has been running as since our launch in 2009.

Facebook didn’t provide any detail on this decision or how ShopTab can address the support of our thousands of small Facebook fan page users. We are working diligently to get in touch with someone at Facebook to address how we can reverse this situation and address their approach to communicating such a substantial change without a formal communication and time to address support for existing users.
Facebook recently made a number of permission changes to alert users during the adding of an app to their page. While the intent is good, it creates both a cumbersome process (lots of steps) and a high level of concern to users because of the language Facebook uses.
BROWSER NOTE: Make sure your browser is up to date. In some cases, older browser versions won't bring up the appropriate FB dialog permissions.
To add the app to your Facebook fan page click on "Settings" in your ShopTab Admin and then "Add to Facebook Page" to get started.
Below are the dialog boxes you are likely to see when adding ShopTab's apps to your Fan Page. Please select "Okay" for each. We have noted how we use these permissions.
NOTE: When prompted you will want to answer these dialog boxes logged in under your personal profile, not as your fan page. All app permissions are related to personal profiles and not the fan page.
We have no desire to manage your pages (we have plenty of our own work to do!) but the process of adding of our app means we are given admin rights to place the app on your Fan Page. Our rights are only used during the step of adding or deleting your app and are not used to manage your Fan Page or any other application.
ShopTab posts into your fan page only when you initiate a promotion or share. This permission allows only those with login access to ShopTab's apps access to features to promote your products and services through our admin panel.
Our application does not use any information from your personal or Fan Page posts or your friends list.
When completed with the dialog boxes, you will land on a page like the one below. Like our app and then select the Fan Page for the app can click on "connect".
If you went through the process above and answered the Facebook permissions by limiting our permissions, you won't have the ability to add the app correctly until you delete the app from your FB fan page profile. To delete the app with the limited permissions, please do the following:
- In your FB profile, click the gear to change your FB profile settings, select "Account Settings"
- On this page click on the "Apps" option
- If ShopTab is listed, please remove or delete it since it was placed with limited permissions.
- Once complete, start the process above and don't limit any of the permissions - click "okay" to everything
