Adding the App to your Facebook Page - Facebook Permissions

Facebook recently made a number of permission changes to alert users during the adding of an app to their page. While the intent is good, it creates both a cumbersome process (lots of steps) and a high level of concern to users because of the language Facebook uses.

STEP-BY-STEP VIDEO

BROWSER NOTE: Make sure your browser is up to date. In some cases, older browser versions won't bring up the appropriate FB dialog permissions.

To add the app to your Facebook fan page click on "Settings" in your ShopTab Admin and then "Add to Facebook Page" to get started.

Below are the dialog boxes you are likely to see when adding ShopTab's apps to your Fan Page. Please select "Okay" for each. We have noted how we use these permissions.

NOTE: When prompted you will want to answer these dialog boxes logged in under your personal profile, not as your fan page. All app permissions are related to personal profiles and not the fan page.

We have no desire to manage your pages (we have plenty of our own work to do!) but the process of adding of our app means we are given admin rights to place the app on your Fan Page. Our rights are only used during the step of adding or deleting your app and are not used to manage your Fan Page or any other application.

ShopTab posts into your fan page only when you initiate a promotion or share. This permission allows only those with login access to ShopTab's apps access to features to promote your products and services through our admin panel.

Our application does not use any information from your personal or Fan Page posts or your friends list. 

When completed with the dialog boxes, you will land on a page like the one below. Like our app and then select the Fan Page for the app can click on "connect".

If you went through the process above and answered the Facebook permissions by limiting our permissions, you won't have the ability to add the app correctly until you delete the app from your FB fan page profile.  To delete the app with the limited permissions, please do the following:

- In your FB profile, click the gear to change your FB profile settings, select "Account Settings"
- On this page click on the "Apps" option
- If ShopTab is listed, please remove or delete it since it was placed with limited permissions.
- Once complete, start the process above and don't limit any of the permissions - click "okay" to everything

    Got it to work.

    1.  Removed app

    2.  Still couldn't add with Chrome or Firefox

    3.  Logged in with Internet Explorer.  Had a problem with the oauth page from FB, but once I refreshed the screen it showed the FB permission dialogs and finally saw my page to add.  Now I just have to see how to see it on my facebook/cosmsolutions page

    I am not even able to get anything on Facebook page, I have two options to click settings and there is no option that says add to Facebook page, I have tried on Google Chrome and internet explorer, I have the most up to date version and nothing. Too much of a headache, there is always other ways.

    Evening,

    I am having a lot of trouble trying to get the ShopTab to link to my business facebook page. When I click link to facebook, it just goes to a blank white page that doesnt load.

    Any help would be great.

    Hey guys,

    Yup I wound up getting it sorted. I had to switch to windows explorer and is seemed to still not want to work but I got there. I do prefer to use firefox, now that its all linked, I am having no problems.

    Customer support is great, and every really like this system and were getting nothing but possitive feedback.

    Again, sorry for the troubles. I've checked the API integration and all seems to be working now. I will make sure our tech team keeps an eye out for issues, especially with FF. Glad to hear the feedback is going so well!

    Hello,

    I can't add the tab to my facebook page by using Chrome or Firefox. I'm the admin of the page, and the shoptab tab hasn't been added to the page. My ID is 29715, "We couldn't find your Facebook Page to connect to" was given when tried to add the tab. Please help. Thank you so much!

    Zoe,

    Are you logged in as a different user in Facebook when attempting this? Make sure you are logged in on Facebook with the account that is the admin for that FB Fan Page and can you give it a try again? If that doesn't work, let us know and we'll send you a private note to your fan page on a way you can allow us to add the app to your page. Thanks!

    I too am having trouble. I made it to step 2...shows my page and states it is Connected, but when I look withConnectthere is no app...help! Using google chrome. Is#30441. Thx

    Simon - What device and browser are you using? Also, any chance your fan page isn't published yet? Sometimes Facebook won't let us link to a page that isn't published. Let us know.

    Hi! I'm having a problem too! I already added the app and successfully launched the shop, after logging out of my Facebook account, i was not able to access the admin page

    You will need to log into ShopTab at https://admin.shoptab.net. Once you are logged into our system, the tab option within your FB page will appear so you can manage your products from there as well. Does that help?

    i have tried to delete the Shoptab app in my account setting and tried in IE, firefox and google chrome, the "connect" button just wont show up. Could you help?

    I have tried everything from deleting the app to logging out and back... I cannot get the app to attach to my facebook page. I had the app before though so I'm at a loss as to why it will not work. Account ID: 21663. Trying to attach to https://www.facebook.com/Ashley21Accessories/

    Ashley - You still had the app connected to an account you created recently that you had cancelled. I took it off that account so you should have the ability to add it to 21663. Give it a try now.

    Brent - when you click the "Add app to Facebook" do you say okay to all of the permissions that are asked? If you do, what comes up after?

    Can't get any of this to work. Nothing is showing on the FB page except for "ShopTab" logo and "terms and conditions" No products listed.

    edit: I just now opened FB using IE and now they are there but I guess Chrome doesn't work.
