We receive numerous inquiries from clients in India that desire to use their Facebook Fan Page to sell products or services to their fans. In the information below we have provided options that may work for Indian client’s that desire a Facebook Shop application.
There are a number of ways to sell in India with ShopTab’s leading Facebook Store app:
- Sell using ShopTab’s Cash on Delivery (COD) option.
- Create a FB Storefront to products you have for sale on an e-commerce website
- Create a FB Storefront to products listed in a marketplace like Flipkart
- Integrated cart – Accepts Euro, USD or 24 other currencies on PayPal’s gateway
- FUTURE: Integrated cart payments in Indian Rupee using PayPal’s gateway
1. Sell using ShopTab’s COD option
ShopTab created the ability to allow buyers to signal their intent to make a purchase via an email notification with our Facebook Cash on Delivery payment option. The seller would need to finalize the purchase with the buyer through email, text or phone call.
NOTE: Set your currency to the rupee in the Settings/Store Design tab and make sure you selected URL Integration in the Settings/Buyer Checkout options.
2. Create a FB Storefront to products you have for sale on an e-commerce website
Many clients have a website where they are selling their products currently. If this is the case, ShopTab has a simple integration that allows you to use the existing website to show the full product catalog file as well as for the payment/checkout system.

3. Create a FB Storefront for products listed in a marketplace like Flipkart
Many inquiries to ShopTab are from new online sellers or those selling inside of a popular marketplace sites like Flipkart. Using a marketplace is a great way to begin selling online since it will allow you to open up your products to all users on the internet. However, marketplaces don’t provide a great opportunity to promote and sell to your social fans. Using ShopTab with a site like Flipcart can help you to leverage both online and social selling – a great combination.

When integrating with a marketplace, the creation of products listings may be individual manual entries or a product file upload into ShopTab, if the marketplace provides a text or csv file export.

4. Integrated cart – Accepts Euro, USD or 24 other currencies on PayPal’s gateway
ShopTab uses PayPal’s gateway for processing of all debit, credit or PayPal payments. At this time PayPal does not support the INR directly but they have announced that they plan to do so. In the meantime, sellers can use the cart with any of the 26 currencies supports such as the Euro or U.S. Dollar. These funds will be converted into INR within your account after deposit.

5. FUTURE: Integrated cart payments in Indian Rupee (INR) using PayPal’s gateway
We continue to push PayPal to support the INR but they have noted many special Indian banking regulations that seem to be holding up the process. We’ll continue to monitor this situation and make will have it immediately available on ShopTab when it is supported.
